Feel Good Friday Quote #4

Quotefancy-18966-3840x2160

If everything in this World were positive, there would be no thorns on a rose, no mistakes, no failures, no calamities, no wars, no enemies and no death. Sadly, that’s not the case.

It’s important to focus on the positive aspects of life, and try to have a positive attitude at all times. Yet, it’s impossible to eliminate negativity.

Terror attacks in recent times, plane crashes and accidents and natural disasters like flooding in some parts of TamilNadu, India and UK are all examples of  negative happenings.

Just like every Cloud has a silver lining, each of these negative incidents have something to teach. The terror attacks have brought the world together as one to fight against terrorism, and the floods have brought out hope in humanity with people reaching out to rescue  and help each other. It has also brought an increased awareness and concern for the environment. Every accident teaches us to build something stronger and robust and encourages creativity and innovation.

Death is another negative aspect in life, and losing a loved one can be very painful, but not something that cannot be healed. Knowing that it is inevitable is what makes life all that more valuable, and teaches us to live to the fullest.

We need to accept negativity as an inevitable part of life and channelize it in a positive manner to develop and improve for the better.

Operation Slumbertime : Update

A few of you may remember an earlier post on my blog; Operation Slumbertime”: my mission to change my adorable toddler from a “Night Owl”  into an “Early Bird”.

It’s been nearly 3 weeks (17 days, to be precise) since I wrote that post and I thought it’s about time I gave you all an update. So, here’s the Good News : Mission Accomplished!

After one false alarm early on, I wanted to be sure that V’s sleeping pattern had definitely changed before bragging (Yes, to me getting my two year old to sleep at night is something worth bragging) about it on this blog lest I end up jinxing it.

After a record 10 days of sleeping through the night, I guess it’s now safe to say that my baby is not a Vampire. Not quite and “Early Bird” as yet, but the timing suits me just fine.

We have finally been able to see some sunlight, and so have resumed our usual trips to the library and the toddler groups, weather permitting. Life couldn’t be  more perfect! Except…we have another big move coming up next month.

My Husband just told me yesterday that his assignment is nearing completion and so we will be returning to India in exactly a month’s time, after completing almost a year in UK. Which means, a different time zone and a whole new sleeping schedule. Help!!!

Anyway, I am glad I started the Sleep Journal, it has definitely been very helpful. I feel more confident about handling Jet Lag now, so definitely look forward to returning home and meeting family after almost a year.

I plan to write a detailed post on how we ended up getting V’s sleep cycle back on track, sometime later this month.

Today, I wanted to share a Bedtime chart designed for older school-going children.

Some of you may have already seen the chart, which was originally posted on Wilson Elementary School’s Facebook page. The chart, designed by a parent became viral within a few days of posting and has been shared over 400,000 times.

There are mixed reactions to the chart, with many parents opining that their kids would be up at 4 AM if they followed the recommended schedule.

After struggling with V’s sleep issues, I have come to the conclusion that not all kids sleep for 12 hours a day. So, the schedule would definitely have to be tweaked to suit the child’s temperament.

As for you fellow moms, have a look at the chart, and let me know in the comments if you think it would work for you.

Update: Finally got around to creating the poll. Thank you Vikram for your helpful tip!

PS : I would love to include a poll, but am still figuring out how to do it. So, if you know how to add polls, please leave some advice in the comments. Thank you guys!

Feel Good Friday Quote #3

You may be wondering why I am posting a Blog titled Friday Quote on a Saturday (or maybe even a Sunday, in some parts of the World).

Well, I don’t really have anything to say in my defence except that I missed posting it yesterday. Not because I forgot about it, but because I was a little busy with other things and ran out of enough time to post it before the end of the day.

After contemplating long and hard on if it would be better to just skip posting a Quote this week for the Feel Good Friday Series (I did post a Quote for the 3 Days 3 Quote Challenge instead, so it may not be that bad, would it? ), I decided to go ahead on post the Quote anyway. As they say, “Better Late than Never”, right?

Also, the Quote that I had planned on posting for the Week couldn’t have been more apt as it all about Time.

21033-the-bad-news-is-time-flies-the-good-news-is-youre-the-pilot

The Bad News is

Time Flies.

The Good News is

YOU are the PILOT.

I started the Feel Good Friday Quotes series some time back hoping that having a schedule would prompt me to be a little more regular. Why did I choose to post Quotes, among all possible options and choices? Because I thought posting inspiring Quotes on my Blog would inspire and encourage me to lead a better and positive life. I only post those Quotes which appeal to me.

I hope to learn a lesson from this week’s mistake and lack of proper planning. Hopefully, I do not take time for granted any more. *Fingers crossed* #Nobodylikestolose

The Quote is a little philosophical and talks about the Ups and Downs in life. I am sure this Quote will encourage us to be positive and hopeful even when we go through tough times in our lives. It is the downs in life that teach us some very valuable lessons and make the ups in life seem all that more rewarding after all.
